Default Help with reading

I have a 7 year old daughter who is having a very hard time reading. I would like some ideas on how to help her. She knows all her sounds but she still sounds ever letter out no matter if the word is on the page 5 times. She is adding other letters and is a very slow reader. But if you put the word by itself on the calk board she gets it and she almost always can spell the word for you but still says a different word.

It's perfectly normal for someone of her age to have difficulty reading full sentences. Some kids are more advanced than others -- I was a bit of a slow learner myself. My hypothetical guess is that your child is trying to comprehend the sentence while sounding out the words properly. It isn't an easy task for a kid like that. Practice always makes perfect. If she's still having trouble, see if you can get her into a fun remedial program. Heck, it may also be a fear or reading aloud. I find that I comprehend things better when reading by myself (not aloud).
